Aria ChernickAria F. Chernik, J.D., Ph.D., is a Lecturing Fellow in the Thompson Writing Program at Duke University and Associate Director of the Thompson Writing Program’s Language Arts + Media Program. She is also an Innovation Fellow in the Sanford School of Public Policy’s Innovation and Technology Policy Lab at Duke. Her teaching, research, and academic leadership focus on digital literacy, multimedia communication, participatory citizenship, open educational resources, collaborative learning environments, and professional development design. Chernik co-directed the Digital Writing + Pedagogy Lab at Duke, which was established under her co-authored Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant “Transforming Academic Writing in the Digital Age.” Chernik also formerly served as Associate Director of First-Year Writing at Duke and Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor of Law at University of North Carolina School of Law. In addition to her extensive teaching experience at the K12, undergraduate, and graduate levels, she has also worked as a professional writer and editor.
