Nathan McAlister has taught middle and high school history for 19 years. His students have created and led many historical preservation projects. These include two pieces of legislation, a Civil War mural, G.I. Bill oral histories, and an annual History Fair. In 2010 Nathan was named Kansas and National History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History. Additional honors include Educator of the Year by the Santa Fe Trail Association and Outstanding American History Teacher by the Kansas DAR. Recently, Nathan was named a Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes, Fellow.
