Emma Edmunds is the principal researcher for Mapping Local Knowledge: Danville, Va., 1945–75. She is a journalist by training, having worked as a reporter at the Atlanta Constitution and as a writer and editor at Atlanta Magazine. In 1998, she was a fellow at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, and has a second fellowship at VFH for spring 2015. Since 1998, she has conducted more than thirty oral histories and collected scores of documents related to the African-American history of the Danville region; mounted two exhibits; and developed a website which is an online version of the first exhibit.
