Dr. Jim La Prad is an associate professor for the College of Education and Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Illinois University. He received his bachelor of science in metallurgical and material science engineering from the University of Notre Dame and his master of education and doctor of philosophy in social foundations of education from the University of Virginia.
Jim has published work in Dealing with Diversity: The Anthology called “Contingency, Irony, and Solidarity: A Moral Imperative of Multicultural Education” in 2008. His most recent work was a selection co-written with Tracy Davis and Sean Dixon entitled “Masculinities Reviewed and Reinterpreted: Using Critical Approach to Working with Men in Groups” in Masculinities in Higher Education: Theoretical and Practical Considerations in 2011. In 2008, the National Society for Experiential Education honored him as NSEE’s Experiential Education Higher Education Leader of the Year. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, he was honored by the Rapphannock (Virginia) Chapter as Big Brother of the Year in 2000.
