Gary Sandling is the division head of Monticello’s interpretive and visitor services staffs, the good people who work with our more than 450,000 annual visitors. He is responsible for the direction and planning of visitor services and interpretive programs in two major departments with approximately 150 employees.  He leads the Thomas Jefferson Foundation’s efforts to provide an informative and engaging experience to more than 400,000 visitors annually to Thomas Jefferson’s plantation and home, Monticello. Our vision is to engage a global audience with Jefferson’s ideas and our mission is to preserve Monticello and share our knowledge of Monticello and of Thomas Jefferson onsite and offsite to everyone from experts to the mildly curious, of all ages.
