The Virginia Center for Digital History operated as one of the first university-based outreach centers that enhanced scholarship and teaching through digital technology. VCDH pioneered ground-breaking new approaches in digital scholarship, long distance and e-learning, and community and school engagement.  Digital projects like Valley of the Shadow, Geography of Slavery, Virtual Jamestown, and Civil Rights Television News Archive, 1951-1971 provided intersections to advance the understanding of teaching and learning in the digital age.

During his tenure as Director of Outreach and Education at VCDH and then at the Curry School of Education, Mink conceived, designed, and successfully funded the following projects as Principal Investigator:

Principal Investigator, “Tredegar Web-based Learning Program” in partnership with the American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar in Richmond, Virginia (2005-2008; revised as 18-month project in April 2006)
