Marc Zaldivar began as the Director of the ePortfolio Initiatives in Spring 2008. He has been a VT Hokie for more than 20 years though, having completed an undergraduate and Master’s degree in English Literature, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Design and Technology. He worked for 10 years in the English Department at Virginia Tech before pursuing the Ph.D. In his work teaching composition courses and working in the university’s Writing Center, portfolio work was common. He has also worked with Online Course Systems and the Faculty Development Initiative doing training on various technologies to enhance student learning and classroom management. Now, with the recent national surge in interest in ePortfolios, he is very excited to help Virginia Tech blossom into a rich educational environment, improving our ability to understand what and how our students learn.
